It’s been more than ten years since country music legend George Jones passed away at 81, but his voice is about to reach fans once again with a new album. The album, George Jones: The Lost Nashville Sessions, is set to release soon, bringing back Jones’ timeless sound.

This special collection includes 16 tracks that were originally recorded in the 1970s for radio but have never been widely heard. These songs have been carefully restored, offering fans a rare chance to experience Jones’ music in a fresh way.

According to Music Universe, these recordings were originally meant for promotional use and were often done in just a couple of takes. Once the stations played them, they were typically thrown away. That changed when Thomas Gramuglia, president of Country Rewind Records, came across the original tapes. Alongside producer Paul Martin, they decided to preserve and enhance the audio quality of these forgotten gems.

The album features a mix of both familiar songs and hidden treasures. Hits like “White Lightnin'” and “The Race is On” will be part of the collection, but lesser-known tunes like “She’s Mine” and “Four-O-Thirty-Three” are also included, giving fans a broader look at Jones’ work during that era.

Nancy Jones, George’s widow, expressed her excitement, saying, “Music really is the gift that keeps on giving. Even after all these years, we’re still able to share new music from George. Fans will hear some of their favorite songs in versions they’ve never heard before, and I’m so happy we can offer this to his loyal followers.”

When Will the Album Be Available?

The full album is scheduled to drop on November 15, but fans don’t have to wait that long to get a taste of it. The first track, a restored version of “The Honky Tonk Downstairs”, is already out as of October 18. This song was originally recorded in 1968 for Jones’ album George Jones Sings the Songs of Dallas Frazier, and now, fans can enjoy this refreshed version.
