Just before Valentine’s Day on February 10, 2023, Luke Combs dropped his enchanting single “Love You Anyway,” setting the stage for his fourth studio album, Gettin’ Old.
This heartfelt song of love and heartbreak quickly won over the hearts of countless fans, soaring to the top spot on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. In a remarkable twist, Combs’ rendition of “Fast Car” secured the No. 2 slot that same week, marking the first instance in the chart’s history where a solo artist monopolized the top two positions.
This accomplishment is only the second of its kind, making Combs’ chart success nothing short of phenomenal!
“Love You Anyway” also claimed the No. 3 spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and reached No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Written by Luke Combs along with his collaborators Ray Fulcher and Dan Isbell, the song narrates a man’s enduring love for his romantic partner, even in the face of an anticipated heartbreak.

In an Instagram revelation, Combs disclosed that this poignant ballad drew inspiration from his wife, Nicole Hocking. The genesis of the song traces back to a Valentine’s Day performance in 2020 when Combs dedicated his hit “Beautiful Crazy” to Nicole, his fiancée at the time.
During the concert, Combs expressed, “If you’re in here, I love you. If not, you know I do anyway.” Little did he know that Isbell would pick up on “Love You Anyway” as a potential song title.
Three years later, Isbell shared the concept with Combs and Fulcher. The trio decided to craft a tune encapsulating the idea of loving someone so profoundly that you continue loving them, even when aware that they may eventually cause profound heartache.
