Today, we got some thrilling news – Reba McEntire, the Country music legend and Grammy winner, is gearing up to grace the Super Bowl stage with her rendition of the national anthem.
During an exclusive chat with the hosts of CBS Mornings, Reba spilled the beans on her feelings and the behind-the-scenes preparations for this once-in-a-lifetime performance. When asked about how she landed such a prestigious gig, she shared a delightful tidbit about her manager breaking the incredible news.
“He said that they wanted me to sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl, and I said ‘Oh my gosh. Well, let me think about that.”
As the conversation unfolded, Reba revealed that despite her initial hesitation, her boyfriend, Rex Linn – a die-hard football fan – was quick to give his enthusiastic approval.
“And Rex Linn, my boyfriend, who is a huge football fan, he said, ‘Yes, she’ll do it. Absolutely.’ So that’s where we’re at.”
This debut at the Super Bowl holds a special place in Reba’s heart, taking her back to the days when she used to belt out the national anthem at rodeos.
Despite the inherent pressure and jitters associated with singing such an iconic song, Reba brings a wealth of experience to the table. With years of delivering the national anthem at the National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City, she exudes confidence in her ability to nail the performance.
“You just warm up like you do a concert and sing it about five or six times, and get in there, and do it.”
Don’t miss the enchanting performance by Reba McEntire as she sings the national anthem at the Super Bowl on February 11, 2024, at Allegiant Stadium – a historic moment as Las Vegas and Nevada host the event for the very first time.
