Trace Adkins joined some big country stars to honor Toby Keith during a charity concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on July 29. The show, called “Toby Keith: American Icon,” was held to remember Keith, who passed away on February 5, 2024, after fighting stomach cancer.
Some of the ticket sales went to the Toby Keith Foundation’s OK Kids Korral, which offers free housing for children with cancer and their families while they get treatment. The rest of the ticket sales helped support the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville.
Performers included Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Brantley Gilbert, Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Luke Bryan, Adkins, and many more country singers. Keith’s daughter, Krystal Keith, also performed.

Because of their close friendship, Adkins decided to perform at the Toby Keith: American Icon benefit concert. He gave a heartfelt tribute, singing “American Soldier” in Keith’s honor.
Before singing, Trace held back tears and told the crowd, “I could talk all night about Toby, but I’m just gonna say that I was proud to have known him and call him a friend. Thanks, Dog. I miss you.”
We knew Trace Adkins would give the perfect tribute to his good friend Toby Keith.
Toby Keith was the founder of the Toby Keith Foundation. The foundation supports the OK Kids Korral, which is a home-away-from-home for families with kids getting cancer treatments. If you’d like to make a donation in Toby’s memory, you can visit the Toby Keith Foundation’s official website.
