2. Herman Webb (September 3, 1934 – July 28, 2018)
Herman, the sibling born two years after Loretta Lynn, graced this world with his presence until 2018 when he bid farewell at the age of 83. Choosing to stay close to his roots, Herman crafted a life in the embrace of Van Lear, Kentucky.
Herman, entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding memories, embraced the role of curator for the Butcher Hollow homestead—the very backdrop that witnessed the shaping of his and his siblings’ early years. This homestead garnered fame as the central theme in Lynn’s timeless ballad, “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” Possessing profound sentimental significance, the homestead has evolved into a revered destination, drawing thousands of dedicated Loretta Lynn enthusiasts who embark on a pilgrimage each year.

Herman, in his dedicated stewardship of this beloved space, played a pivotal role in upholding the family’s heritage, extending a warm welcome to those seeking a tangible connection with the profound roots of an extraordinary family.
However, Herman’s life extended far beyond his role as the homestead’s tour guide. He shared a rich existence with his wife, Patsy Jean, and together they raised three daughters.
