Loretta Lynn: Meet All of The Coal Miner’s Daughter’s 7 Siblings

5. Peggy Sue Wright (née Webb; born March 25, 1943)

Venturing from the Webb family to Nashville, Peggy Sue left an indelible mark on the country music scene, releasing five albums: “Dynamite!,” “All-American Husband,” “One Side,” “I Just Came in Here,” and “Gently Hold Me.” Her musical journey included multiple hits that steadily climbed the country charts, consistently reaching positions within the Top 30. Notably, Peggy Sue left her creative fingerprint on country music by co-writing Loretta Lynn’s classic, “Don’t Come Home A-Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind).”

Peggy Sue’s personal life unfolded in chapters marked by resilience and tragedy. She hadtwo marriages, first to Douglas Wells in 1964 (culminating in divorce in 1968) and later to music producer and performer Sonny Wright. From her initial marriage, she welcomed a daughter named Doyletta Gayle. However, the family was marred by tragedy when Doyletta was tragically murdered by her husband on February 22, 1991.

In the present, Peggy Sue has found a role in the background vocals realm, lending her talents to her sister Crystal Gayle. Occasionally, the dynamic duo engages in heartwarming duets. Moreover, Peggy Sue, Crystal, and Loretta join forces intermittently for concerts held at Lynn’s Hurricane Mills, Tennessee ranch, showcasing a family bond that transcends the melodies they create together.
