Joe Diffie
Joe Diffie, born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1958, was immersed in a household resonating with music. His father, a skilled guitarist and banjo player, served as a profound inspiration. Diffie discovered his singing abilities at a tender age, cultivating a knack for harmonies. The family’s journey took them to various places during his childhood before settling in Velma, Oklahoma, where Diffie excelled in high school sports.
Post his time at Cameron University, Diffie navigated through different occupations, including stints in the oil fields and as a truck driver. Despite the challenges, music remained a constant pursuit on the side.
In the late 1980s, Joe Diffie faced personal and financial obstacles, yet he boldly made the decision to relocate to Nashville in pursuit of his musical ambitions. While working at the Gibson Guitar Corporation, he dedicated himself to recording demos, demonstrating unwavering determination. This persistence paid off when he inked a deal with Epic Records in 1990, marking the start of Joe Diffie’s remarkable journey in the world of country music.
