Reba McEntire
Reba McEntire, born in 1955 in McAlester, Oklahoma, spent her formative years on a ranch in Chockie. Growing up in a family deeply immersed in rodeo culture, Reba and her siblings inherited a love for singing from their musical mother. Even in her youth, Reba showcased her musical talents, engaging in performances at school events and competitions.
Despite her evident musical prowess, Reba initially pursued a degree in elementary education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. However, her fervor for music remained unwavering. Her turning point came when country artist Red Steagall recognized her talent, prompting her journey to Nashville. Encouraged by her mother, Reba recorded a demo that ultimately led to her signing with PolyGram/Mercury Records. This marked the transformative leap from the ranches of Oklahoma to the illustrious stages of Nashville, signifying the commencement of Reba McEntire’s legendary career in country music.
