On October 8, Garth Brooks filed new court documents in response to serious allegations made against him. The controversy began in mid-September when Brooks anonymously sued a woman known as “Jane Roe” in a Mississippi federal court, alleging she falsely accused him of sexual misconduct for financial gain. In his filing, Brooks asserted that these allegations could cause irreparable damage to his reputation and career.

The public learned of the lawsuit on October 4, when Jane Roe filed her own lawsuit, publicly naming Brooks and accusing him of rape and sexual assault. She claimed that Brooks was trying to hide the “horrific” treatment she endured as a junior employee.

Shortly after Roe’s lawsuit became public, Brooks issued a statement denying the allegations and accusing her of seeking “hush money.” He expressed frustration over being pressured to pay millions to avoid public scrutiny.

Brooks performed in Las Vegas the same night, sharing gratitude for his fans. His wife, Trisha Yearwood, supported him publicly on social media.

In his October 8 filing, Brooks revealed his identity as “John Doe” and labeled himself “the victim of a shakedown,” claiming he first learned of Roe’s accusations through a threatening letter in July 2024. He criticized Roe’s legal team for naming him in their California lawsuit before a decision on his pseudonym could be made.

Roe’s attorneys condemned Brooks for publicly identifying her, asserting that he acted out of spite. They plan to seek maximum sanctions against him, while Brooks’ representative described his latest filing as “self-explanatory.”

This situation is developing, with more updates expected.
