Jason Aldean recently gave Carrie Underwood big credit for how she handled a tricky situation during Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Before the event, it was announced that Underwood would sing “America the Beautiful” at the swearing-in ceremony. She shared how grateful she was for the opportunity, releasing this statement:
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”

Even though her decision to sing at Trump’s inauguration brought some backlash, Underwood still created a special moment that left people in awe when things didn’t go as planned.

Standing in the Capitol Rotunda, she waited for the music to start. But after a long silence, the track played briefly before cutting out completely. After more silence, a staff member approached her. Calmly and confidently, Underwood said, “I can just sing it.”
She asked the audience to join in and then began an a cappella version of “America the Beautiful,” delivering a heartfelt performance that moved everyone.
Jason Aldean Praises Carrie Underwood’s Performance
Underwood’s quick thinking and composure earned her lots of praise, including from Jason Aldean, her duet partner on “If I Didn’t Love You.” Aldean, who performed at Trump’s Liberty Ball that day, shared his thoughts during an interview with Fox & Friends.
“First of all, it’s a hard song to do anyway. And you know, when you’re supposed to be singing to a track, and you know, that’s what gives you pitch reference for the song. To not have that, for her to just kind of say, ‘Alright, listen…’ and that’s a big move, and that’s a pro move…I thought it was great.”
