More than five decades after Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn dominated the country charts with their duets, their grandchildren are continuing their musical legacy.

This past weekend, Tre Twitty and Tayla Lynn (known as Twitty and Lynn) launched their debut full-length album, “Cookin’ Up Lovin’”—a collection of 12 songs featuring three covers of iconic duets made famous by their “Poppy” and “Memaw” along with seven original tracks.

The album (available here) showcases modern yet respectful interpretations of three of Conway and Loretta’s chart-topping hits as a duo: the Grammy-winning “After the Fire Is Gone,” their classic “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man,” and “Feelins’.”

In addition to their original tracks (all co-written by Tre and Tayla), “Cookin’ Up Lovin’” includes renditions of Jim Stafford’s “Spiders and Snakes,” a song previously covered by Conway and Loretta, and a remake of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire.”

To celebrate the album launch, Tre and Tayla will grace the Grand Ole Opry stage for the fifth time in two years on May 2. Their debut performance at the Opry was with “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man,” a moment that echoed their grandparents’ legacy. Moreover, the duo recently debuted a podcast series honoring “the enduring power of music, family legacies, and the resilience of Tre and Tayla, who are committed to preserving their grandparents’ music for future generations.”

Currently on tour, Twitty and Lynn have scheduled nearly 120 performances across the country in 2024.

“While they perform their grandparents’ songs, Tayla and Tre bring their unique individual styles to the stage, avoiding imitation of the original performances,” a press release highlights. “However, as they share heartwarming family anecdotes throughout their two-and-a-half-hour show, fans will feel like they’ve been invited into the intimate world of these two incredible musical families.”
